Persistence of the Catch with Firefox 19 – [update: version 3.0.3.48]

Saturday, February 23rd, 2013

We have received reports on problems with the persistence of the catch content with OutWit Hub add-on on Firefox 19. We are working on the fix at the moment. This doesn’t impact the standalone version. You can therefore use this one in the meantime, instead of the add-on, as it doesn’t depend on the Firefox update calendar.

[update] Version 3.0.3.48 is online for download. (Not yet as a general update.) It corrects the problem. Please tell us if you still notice a problem on this issue.

Important Update: OutWit Docs and OutWit Hub – documents

Monday, December 10th, 2012

Document extraction was sometimes requiring a reload in the recent versions because of a change in the handling of file types with the latest versions of Firefox. We corrected this in version 3.0.1.47 of the Kernel (0.6.1.47 of OutWt Docs). Please update if you are only getting partial results in document searches.

You Can Download v3.0 Now.

After six Release Candidates, OutWit Hub version 3.0 is now working smoothly. We still have some work on tutorials, the help and our back-office before we can officially release but, as we know that some of you are anxious to update, here is the link to the download page. Please give us your feedback on it. We think you’ll like it. However, if you encounter any problem, you can always rollback to 2.1 by typing outwit:downgrade in the address bar of OutWit Hub.

Hope you enjoy it.

Firefox next version

Friday, October 19th, 2012

The next version of Firefox v17.0, currently in beta, stopped supporting an important library for handling XML data. We are currently replacing this code in the OutWit Kernel, but the missing library is the reason why the add-on versions of our programs cannot be used with Firefox 17 (beta) for the moment. Please use the release version (v16.x) instead. (Naturally, this only concerns the users of our Firefox Add-ons. OutWit Hub standalone is not impacted by this issue.)

OutWit Hub 3.0 Beta is Out

Wednesday, September 12th, 2012

The development version of OutWit Kernel and Apps (currently: build 3.0.0.63) is now in Beta stage. This update brings new features and enhancements to both light and pro versions but you need to own a license for OutWit Hub Pro to have full access to the advanced features of the Beta. If you are interested in testing this pre-version, please drop us a line here to receive the link.

Version 2.1.4.22 is online

Thursday, June 14th, 2012

This new version is mostly a compatibility update for the add-on version to work with Firefox 13 to 15. Among the other enhancements, one had been repeatedly asked for in the last months: some web sites or invalid domain names were displaying alerts which could block the Hub’s automatic explorations. We tracked these cases and the current version should not be disturbed by site alerts any more. You can see the other changes in the version history.

OutWit Hub 2.1.2 updates

Friday, March 9th, 2012

OutWit Hub for Firefox, as well as Images and Docs have been updated today (2.1.2.14), to work with Firefox 11 as soon as it is released. This update also includes a few interesting optimizations and changes requested by our users.
You can either download the program from the site or ask to check for updates from the Hub help menu.

Updating to the latest version

Thursday, February 16th, 2012

OutWit Hub For Firefox 2.1.1+: When updating from 1.0 to 2.0 then to 2.1 successively, it can happen in some cases that the previous extensions do not unistall properly. In such cases, restarting Firefox usually solves the problem. You can also manually uninstall all outwit extensions and reinstall them from outwit.com. This process will not delete your profile (scrapers, macros etc.) or your registration information.

Notes: If you wish to backup your profile folder anyway (which is never a bad idea). You can locate it by typing “about:support” in the address bar.
Do check in the add-on panel of Firefox (Tools>Add-ons) that the installed outwit extensions are the latest versions: See the version history for OutWit Hub, OutWit Images and OutWit Docs.

OutWit Hub for Firefox 10

Thursday, February 2nd, 2012

OutWit Hub for Firefox 2.1.1.7 is working with all versions of Firefox between 4 and 10. (This update doesn’t concern the standalone application.)

Note: We have also made new builds of the OutWit Kernel v.1.0 and v.2.0 for Firefox 10, for those who do not wish to update OutWit to 2.1 immediately. As the new components for FF10 were just released, some antivirus utilities may not know them yet and display a warning during install.

OutWit Hub Version 2.1 is available

Wednesday, February 1st, 2012

We have solved a few remaining glitches and released version 2.1.1.5 this morning. You may see an alert telling you that the previous version has expired. You just need to download the most recent from outwit.com. (Sorry for not making this one automatic, but it will be from now on.)
